My grandfather's great grandfather moved to Louisiana in 1847 when his revolutionary ideas of democracy got him thrown into prison in Bordeaux, France. He settled along the bayou in what would become Lucy, Louisiana. An educated man, he was a teacher, magazine editor and reknowned for his firey temper.

I'm proud to have grown up in a city as rich and diverse in culture as New Orleans. I remember walking to school under the dew soaked oak trees gazing down at the wrought iron fences and up at the classic mansions that line Louisiana Avenue. It gave me an incredible sense of the endurance of man's creations to realize that most of this fine architecture was constructed before the Civil War. At the same time it gave me a sense of the transience of our time here.

After school, I watched my grandfather and mentor, a welder by trade as he would cut a car with his torch to scrap the metal. I loved to watch as the molten metal dropped top the ground and splattered.

I love metal sculpting because I can see what started out as a vision in my mind become a tangible work of art. I sculpt from my studio outside of New Orleans. The slow flow of the water down the bayou and the moss draped cypress trees put me at one with nature, in touch with my heritage. It helps ease the long hours of meticulous work. Yes it takes alot of work and time to sculpt a piece. However, the time it takes is dwarfed almost to insignifiance when compared to the eternity a piece will last. This concept gives me great pleasure. The enduring permanance of my art means that my work will still be here long after I am gone.

What is avant garde today will one day be a classic, a relic to be passed on to your grandchildren's children. Therefore, I try to stay ahead of time with my designs so that in the future they will still be preceived as modern.

I get always get asked how I got started in this medium and what motivates me. I got started in 1986 when I bought my first home and wanted to be surrounded by the unusual. Hence, I started designing avant garde furnishings. Over the years I got many compliments and offers for commission work. After hearing people suggest I shouldan art gallery one too many times, I finaly did it in 1994. We are located in the heart of the wharehouse art's district in New Orleans at 434 Julia St.

As for what motivates me, I truly believe if you work hard you have to play hard. I like to ski off big rocks on Aspen mountain, drink plenty of red wine and power around on jet skis in Lake Pontchartrain.
